During the Journey Always Remember
- Be gentle & humble during the journey – as Allah has invited you to His House
- Remain patient at all times
- Look after others around you – young, old, male, female – everyone
- Love every Muslim; no matter which country, colour or sect
- Take care of your surroundings especially during your stay in Masjid and Hajj
- Remember your death
- Seek forgiveness and stay away from taking pictures
Before Leaving Home
- Recommended to groom (shave the hair under the armpits, pubic hair and to cut one’s fingernails and toe nails)
- Perform Ghusl (bathe just as one would to be pure from Janaba – major defilement)
- Recite Dua for Leaving Home
Bismillaah, tawakkaltu ‛alal-laah, wa laa ḥawla wa laa quwwata illaa billaah - Recite Dua for Travel
Subḥaan-alladhee sakh-khara lanaa haadhaa, wa maa kunnaa lahu muqrineena, wa innaa ilaaa rabinaa la-munqaliboon - Recite Quran During Travel and make a lot of Dhikr of Allah
- Apply perfume to head and beard but not his garments (for men)
- Wear Ihraam at Miqaat boundaries
(If not possible then wherever the group leader has advised to)
Upon Reaching Miqaat
- Only utter Niyaah at the Miqaat boundary
Labbayk Allahumma Umrah. - Start reciting Talbiyah from the Miqaat
“Labbayka Allaahumma labbayk, labbayka laa shareeka laka labbayk. Inna al-hamd wa’l-ni’mata laka wa’l-mulk, laa shareeka lak
(Here I am, O Allaah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Verily all praise and blessings are Yours, and all sovereignty, You have no partner).” - Read Takbir, Tamheed, Tahleel, Tasbeeh
Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, wa Lillaahi’l-hamd. Allaah akbar kabeera, walhamdulillaah katheera, wasubhan Allaahi bukratan waaseela, Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wahdahu - Sending salutation on Prophet Muhammad
Allahumma Baarik Ala Muhammadin Wa Ala Aali Muhammadin Kama Baarakta Ala Ibrahima Wa Ala Aali Ibrahima Innaka Hamidum Majeed.
Allahumma Salli Ala Muhaammadin Wa Ala Aali Muhammadin Kamaa Sallaita Ala Ibrahima Wa Ala Aali Ibrahima Innaka Hamidum Majeed.
(Continue reciting until you reach point of the black stone)
Upon Reaching the Masjid Haraam
- Upon reaching the Masjid Haraam Read Dua Of Entering Masjid
Bismillahee Wasalatu Ala Rasoolillaah, Allaahum-maf taḥ lee abwaaba raḥmatik - Continue Reading Talbiyah Until You are Near Hajr e Aswad
- At the point of Hajr e Aswad you should:
- Expose Your Right Shoulder (Men)
- Try to Touch or Kiss Hajr Aswad – If not then just raise your right hand to Hajr Aswad saying Dua Say
Bismillah, Allahu Akbar - Start your Tawaaf
- For men – To Ramal (hasten/briskly walk) during the first 3 Circuits of Tawaf and walk normally during the other 4 circuits.
- Make as many supplications from your heart, for that which will benefit you. Recite whatever you wish, supplicate to Allah by asking for good, recite the Quran. There is no specific duaa’s that must be read during the Tawaf.
- Once you reach the Yamani corner, either Touch it with your right hand (do not kiss it).
- Read Dua Between Rukn Yamni and Hajr e Aswad
Rabbanaa aatinaa fid-dunyaa hasanatan wa feel aakhirati hasanatan wa qinaa ‘adhaaban naar - Once you return back to the Black Stone, you have completed 1 circuit, and you need to repeat the above steps 6 more times.
- After completing Tawaaf (7 Circles)
- Pray two Rak’ahs, as close as conveniently possible behind Maqaam-e Ibraheem. If it is not possible then you can pray them anywhere in the sacred mosque.Recite Surah Al-Kafiroon during the first Rak’ah, and Surah Al-lkhlaas in the second Rak’ah
- Drink Plenty of ZamZam until you feel full … Pour some ZamZam over your head
(if it is convenient to do so, touch Hajr e Aswad)
Saa’i
- Upon approaching Mount Safaa, the following ayaat (verse) is recited
Innas-safaa wal marwata min sha’aa’irillaahi faman hajjal baita ‘awi’tamara falaa janaaha ‘alaihi an yattawwafa bihimaa wa man tatawwa’a khiran fa’innallaaha shaakirun ‘aleemun - Then descend from Mount Safaa and walk towards Mount Marwah
Recite Allah u Akbar while Ascending and Subhan’Allah while Descending - For Men – between the green lights, hasten your walk, but do not run.
- Upon reaching Mount Marwah repeat the same procedure as when ascending Mount Safaa (face the Qibla, raise your hands and repeat what was said on Mount Safaa.)This completes one circuit.
- Continue and complete in total 7 circuits, ending the last one on Mount Marwah.
- There are no particular supplications to be recited between Safaa and Marwah. open your heart in glorification and Dua, praise Allah and supplicate Him in your own words.
Shaving of the Head
- After Completing Sai, Trim/Cut the hair
- It is recommended for men to shave all their hair and Women to shorten their hair by a finger tip.
- Alhamdulillah Your Umrah is complete.
